Have you heard about flipped classroom?
A flipped classroom is a technique which teachers, mostly outside Indonesia, used to teach their children. Like its name, it is contrasted from Indonesian classroom do where students learned the subjects at school and do the assignment at home, but flipped classroom students learn the subject and got the assignment at home by video, and do the assignment at school.
It is not common at Indonesia school, so probably many of you never experience it. Neither do I.
To be honest, I don't know if flipped classroom will effective at Indonesia schools. It mostly because students will have a hard time to customize with the new teaching, but it would possible for elementary students, which mean should be applied to new students.
It sure makes teacher's job easier and hard at the same time. It easier because they don't need to explain it again at school or students has something to do when they didn't come, but also it makes their job harder because they should make a video about the subject.
The affecting factors are all the students should watch the video and understand it, and teachers should make the video clear and simple.
Flipped classroom sure a good idea, but there some disadvantage. First, the teacher should know how to make the video and ho to prepared other things that connected to the subjects or assignment. Second, the students won't open the lecture and end up not understand at all. Third, need an internet connection, without it, students could not open the video.
I make my own video, the tool that I use is EDpuzzle. Why I used it?
1. Because I don;t need to search the video from other platforms.
2. It's easy to make the quiz.
3. There are clear instructions to use it.
The disadvantages:
1. There are some tools that you might not use it and end up confusing the new user.
2. The quiz at the side, students might miss it.

ReplyDeleteJovi, what a clear explanation you have here. But, if you don't mind I would like to give some comments. Firstly sorry to say, I'm not trying to offend you but I guess "...classroom will effective" should actually be "....classroom will BE effective" and you made a miss spelled word "ho", no perfect human tho I think it's better for you to revise it. Secondly, I don't think flipped classroom always have to do with videos, just so you know, no offends. But overall, well done! Love it.
