Learning Descriptive Text Using Blended Learning

Hello, everyone!
Today, I would like to introduce blended learning. One of the methods that teachers can use for their class. I used blended learning to make a lesson about descriptive text.
The activity is design to improve student's listening, reading, vocabulary, and writing.
My student for descriptive text is 10th grade. Describing something is very important and being used in many writing occasion. By knowing how to describe something, it would make the writing more detail.
The students will watch a video about what is descriptive text. Then, they will read some example of descriptive text. Then they need to write 2 descriptive texts about a place and a person from the pictures in the Blendspace. If they have difficulties with the vocabulary,  there are also some examples of adjective that they can use. The students should do it for 1 hour and submit it before the lesson ends. At the end of the lesson, there is an assignment that students should do at home, and they should submit it before one day before the next meeting. The assignment is to make two descriptions of a place and a person, and they also need to put the pictures of the place and the person.
Blendspace is very effective and very easy to make. I think that Blendspace will help any teacher in their lessons. I made my Blendspace at www.tes.com which give many examples of a variety of Blendspace. Beside it easy to make, teachers also can show what they want to introduce to their students for effectively. With Blendspace, teachers don't need to search again or open the source one by one or giving the students hardcopy. Teachers only need to click sources that they already put. It thinks it also makes students more interested in the lesson. It would help teachers in any way like they don't need to search it by themselves because it already gives you option what you want to input, but that not close the possibility to put their own.
What to improve:
1. It could be confusing for people who have little experience with computer,
2. It needs a strong connection to the internet.

Teaching using Nearpod

I do my first teaching experience last week. I used Nearpod as my application of teaching. The lesson is about Capital letter and apostrophe. Capital letter and apostrophe are very important in writing, without them a writing could be confusing. My lesson is for 5th grade. Even though that capital letter and apostrophe sound easy, it's turn out that people still got confused about it. For example, for capital letter, you should be capitalized every planets' names, but not for sun, earth, and moon, but you should capitalize it if it has "The" at the in front.Without the capital letter, it could be confusing for the reader. For example, surnames that have other meaning, like Brown, Lake, etc. For apostrophe, words that have -s/-es at the end of the word usually have plural meaning. Apostrophe also puts -'s to show that something belongs to someone. So, for example, a word like "Boys", it a plural form of "Boy". To show that the "Boys...

Lesson Plan with SAMR

This is my first lesson plan, so it's not perfect. My lesson plan about giving and asking direction. It is suitable for junior high school. The purpose of the lesson is for the students to know what is the right way to ask and give direction. The lesson also teaches the students about landmarks. The lesson will not use any physical things, like paper and whiteboard. All the teacher and the students need is a laptop or a tablet. Here my lesson plan: Asking and Giving Direction Topic: For student learns some basic directional skills, asking for directions and giving directions. This lesson starts with learning how to ask for directions and how to give directions to someone who has asked you. Aims: 1.        Know how to ask for directions and giving direction. 2.        Increasing vocabulary about direction. 3.        Develop student’s writing by writing a script of role-playing....

Flipped Classroom

Hai, everyone! Have you heard about flipped classroom? A flipped classroom is a technique which teachers, mostly outside Indonesia, used to teach their children. Like its name, it is contrasted from Indonesian classroom do where students learned the subjects at school and do the assignment at home, but flipped classroom students learn the subject and got the assignment at home by video, and do the assignment at school. It is not common at Indonesia school, so probably many of you never experience it. Neither do I. To be honest, I don't know if flipped classroom will effective at Indonesia schools. It mostly because students will have a hard time to customize with the new teaching, but it would possible for elementary students, which mean should be applied to new students. It sure makes teacher's job easier and hard at the same time. It easier because they don't need to explain it again at school or students has something to do when they didn't come, but also it mak...
